About casey tangonan
Counseling Intern
Every person has a shared connection in our humanity and I believe we can learn, grow, and flourish through this connection. You come to me as a human experiencing difficulty and I meet you as a human welcoming you to a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment. My approach is centered around using empathy, levity, and authenticity to create a genuine, compassionate therapeutic relationship where you can feel free to share your concerns and learn new ways to grow.
As a queer, Asian woman, I am passionate about working with BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and gender-expansive clients. I operate from a person-centered theoretical approach which means that I believe that the therapeutic process should be as unique as the individual receiving it. My aim is to help you achieve your goals by exploring your truest self and uncovering your capacity to grow and heal. An important piece of this process is the acceptance and celebration of each intersection of your identity. I received my Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago and I am currently in the final year of my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Roosevelt University. Outside of counseling, I enjoy singing karaoke, reading, arranging flowers, and binding books! |
