Christy utilizes cognitive-behavioral strategies, with an emphasis on mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Her goal in therapy will be to create a meaningful, collaborative relationship that is tailored to helping you find balance by developing your strengths and emphasizing goals that move you towards the life you envision.
Christy’s areas of focus for treatment and support include self-care, coping skills, depression, anxiety, guilt, isolation, impulse control, and past trauma. She has worked in a variety of settings to help ensure that those who need support are able to find it. This includes her tenure as the Statewide Coordinator for the Illinois Respite Coalition, where she provided trainings to caregivers focused on self-care through techniques such as deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and everyday mindfulness. She has a wealth of knowledge on topics including cultivating gratitude, building social connections, and maintaining balance between the responsibilities of caregiving and other life roles. Prior to her role as the Statewide Coordinator, she developed her skills with Clearbrook by providing in-home support to families of children with special needs
